Harold's Chicken Shack
The owners of Harold's Chicken Shack were already in the restaurant industry in 1950 when they adapted a recipe for chicken feet and dumplings to fried chicken. Before the year was out, they had opened a new restaurant named Harold's Chicken Shack, and the franchise took off from there.
Today, Harold's Chicken Shack is a Chicago institution with locations all across the city. Of course, the exact recipe that made Harold's famous has been lost to time so franchise owners interpret that flavor through their own unique recipes. They pair these chicken creations with fish and shrimp galore, as well as saucy fries and plenty of cakes.
