What You'll Get
The Scots developed golf to irk common loch pests, such as merats, locharoaches, and Nessie, who to this day rarely surfaces for fear of being beaned by a well-aimed ball. Brush up on your monster-vexing skills with today's Groupon: for $39, you get 18 holes of golf, a cart, a large bucket of range balls, a hot dog, and your choice of a draft beer or a fountain drink (up to an $82.50 total value) at Hiddenbrooke Golf Club, located in Vallejo. Typical prices for a round of golf and a cart range from as low as $25 after 2 p.m., Monday through Thursday, to as high as $66 for Friday mornings—using this Groupon for a lower-priced tee time is possible, but not advisable.
Hiddenbrooke Golf Club boasts a world-class, Arnold Palmer–designed course, which has been ranked the ninth-best public golf course in the nation by the Golf Digest Reader's Choice Awards, and features five sets of tees for all skill levels. Warm up for your round with a jumbo-sized bucket of range balls at the driving range or work on your swing at the chipping area and putting green, where professional golfers practice choreographed after-putt celebrations, typically involving sparklers and balloons reading, "Superb shot, chap!" From there, club-wielders can journey through the course's tranquil fairways and well-maintained greens, which challenge golfers with creative layouts and scenic but perilous water hazards and sand traps. Also included in the deal is a hot dog and your choice of a cold brew or a fountain drink (up to $8.50) plus a large bucket of range balls at Hiddenbrooke Golf Club's driving range ($8).
The dress code calls for a collared golf shirt, slacks, or Bermuda-length shorts, with no denim allowed, so save spray-painting the image of a tuxedo onto your body for a round of mini-golf. Don your finest golf threads, gather a few Groupon-holding friends, and head to the meticulously maintained course for a round of teed-off entertainment.
Yelpers give Hiddenbrooke Golf Club an average of four stars and Golf Digest editors rate it 4.5 stars and put it on its 2009 Best of the Best list under the reputation and prestige category. Golf California recommends it:

About Hiddenbrooke Golf Club
Golf legend Arnold Palmer, known in the cleated world as the King and winner of the PGA Tour's Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, designed the undulating ryegrass fairways at Hiddenbrooke Golf Club. Ranked as one of Golf Digest’s Readers’ Choice Top 50 Public Courses in 2009, the course unfolds scenic views of rolling hills as players give their balls detailed directions, hand them compasses and trail mix, and send them hiking toward the pin. The 12th hole’s pin challenges orbs with one of the toughest locations on the course, and eight sand bunkers guard three sides of the 18th hole’s green. After working up a sweat, swingers can remove their gloves and Kevlar vests and celebrate or commiserate their score at The Grille, where diners gaze out over the greens while munching sandwiches and quaffing beer.
