Inspiration Corporation, assists more than 3,000 Chicago individuals affected by homelessness and poverty each year through its programs in the city's North Side and South Side communities. To further their outreach into Chicago's West Side communities, where 35.2% of the residents currently live in poverty, Inspiration Corporation is raising $6 million—the organization is 95% towards that goal. One of the organization's projects for Chicago's West Side is the Inspiration Kitchens – Garfield Park. Like Inspiration Corporation's acclaimed Café Too job training program, Inspiration Kitchens – Garfield Park will host a 13-week program giving 125 underprivileged participants the opportunity to develop hands-on experience and skills in the food service industry. Once this training has completed, these participants are ready to find work, helping to better themselves and their community through steady employment.
Join this Restaurant Week-themed G-Team campaign to help build the Inspiration Kitchens – Garfield Park and provide job training opportunities for people affected by homelessness in Chicago’s West Side. Every dollar pledged to this campaign will be generously matched by an anonymous donor (hence the doubled values listed below). Five giving levels are available for G-Team donors:
- $10 for $20
- $25 for $50
- $50 for $100
- $100 for $200
- $250 for $500
Featured Groupon business Affresco Pizzeria, as well as Soul Vegetarian East and Fornello Trattoria, are directly supporting this campaign by hosting cooking classes for Inspiration Corporation volunteers, hiring Café Too job training graduates to work in their restaurants, and providing incentives for G-Team donors. Donors can redeem this donation Groupon for a $10 voucher to use at the Inspiration Kitchens – Garfield Park's Grand Opening in March 2011, for free dessert at Fornello Trattoria, or for a $10 voucher to Affresco Pizzeria, while supplies last.
