Jellyfish is housed in a second-story space above the bustle of Rush Street, but the atmosphere gives the sense of being underwater. Blue lights run in waves along the ceiling, casting a cerulean glow on the coral-shaped installations that divide each booth. Banquettes are wrapped in gray vinyl that gleams like sharkskin, or the seats in Aquaman's convertible.
The decor reflects the restaurant's culinary concept: unique, upscale seafood creations. Specialties include everything from tempura lobster tail wrapped in soy paper to brunch dishes such as crispy chicken with green-tea waffles.
But outings to Jellyfish are about more than the food and ambiance. The music program was developed by DJ and longtime Chicago performer Jesse de la Pena. Their elevated attention to detail has attracted some local celebrities to the restaurant, including newscaster Dawn Hasbrouck and Chicago Bulls forward Jimmy Butler.
