When culinary students master techniques, they get consistently delicious results, unlike apprentice animal trainers, who can never know the lion well enough to stop it from occasionally sticking its head inside the trainer's open mouth. Reap the fruits of a gourmet education with today's deal: for $25, you get a four-course prix fixe meal for two at the JNA Institute of Culinary Arts' student-operated restaurant (a $50 value). The restaurant is open Tuesday through Friday.
For each elegantly presented course, you’ll get to choose from three to five options from JNA's seasonally rotating menu. The current menu offers a flavorful array of traditional Italian fare, full of expert sauces and al dente delights. Start off with two crostini—one topped with wild mushrooms and truffle oil, the other with artichoke and white beans—or the fresh soup of the day. For the pasta course, try tender gnocchi in your choice of robust beef ragu or cherry tomatoes, basil, and parmesan. Meat entrees include a pork loin with red onion and port demi-glace or pan-roasted tilapia with polenta and tomato-olive sauce. Herbivores can savor the oven-kissed, multi-layered eggplant parmesan. For dessert, indulge in a rum-soaked sponge cake buried in chocolate and vanilla pastry cream or cover a civilization in gooey chocolate with the eruptive Vesuvius chocolate cake.
Though fledging chefs may not have the same experience as professionals, these warm, buttered Honor Roll students are deeply ingrained in their studies, demonstrating phenomenal technique and adding their own deliciously creative twists to these exceptional recipes. Call ahead to make a reservation.

- This is a fun, relaxed, and different way to experience a great meal.. – OpenTable reviewer who dined on 9/30/2010
- This was probably one of the more fun dining experiences I've had since it was very easy to talk to the instructor and learn more about each of the entrees. The server was also very friendly too, and is a student at a serving school? Don't be afraid to ask what they recommend. – Annie M., Yelp
