Like performing with a professional choir, social drinking assuages the inhibition associated with donning a robe and singing holiday songs in public. Bypass years of classical training with today's Groupon: for $15, you get $30 worth of beer, wine, cocktails, and shots at Joe's Garage.
Joe's Garage irrigates parched tongues through its list of bottled and draft beers, wines, and assortment of specialty cocktails, as eyes drink in beautiful views from the pub's rooftop patio. A spectrum of brews shimmers from the tap, including the Summit Seasonal ($5.50) and Surly Furious, a crimson brew blending American hops and Scottish malt with notes of rage over parking tickets ($6). Taste buds reunite with familiar bottled sips such as Guinness ($5), Corona ($4.50), and an 18.6-ounce serving of Newcastle ($8).
Red and white wines vie for the attention of menu scanners, who settle on vintages such as the Dry Creek fume blanc from Sonoma ($8/glass) and the Liberty School cabernet from Paso Robles ($8/glass). Taste-tested by discerning secret agents, the Garage's refreshing martinis and specialty drinks sabotage summer heat. Stoli raspberry lemonade ($8), white-chocolate mintini ($9), and Joe's margarita—a concoction of Sauza Hornitos reposado, Cointreau and lime juice ($8)—chase heat waves back over the rooftop patio to disappear amid striking views of downtown Minneapolis and the nearby Basilica of Saint Mary.

About Joe's Garage
It’s fitting that Joe Kaplan calls his restaurant a garage, because he uses the space to disassemble classic American recipes and trick them out with more exotic ingredients. Diners flock to Joe’s expansive outdoor patio to sample his latest creative takes on burgers, mashed potatoes, and wings. The martini burger is a fine example of his work, sporting green olives and a Ketel One-infused blue cheese and served shaken upon request. To let his guests in on the fun, Joe gives them the option to customize their mashed potatoes with grilled salmon, shrimp skewers, lamb meatballs, and toppings of red curry or chipotle cream sauce.
