Chinatown often gets a bad rap from Hollywood: when not exclusively focusing on the big trouble that can take place there, the private eyes of the silver screen insist that we forget about Chinatown entirely. Today's deal will dispel these ugly misconceptions: $30 gets you one Wok n' Walk Tour of Chinatown guided by chef Joseph Poon, a $60 value. Your tour includes lunch or dinner, depending on what time of day you take it. Buy one for yourself, treat your friends, and keep the home fires burning. If you're not back by dawn...call the president.

Over the course of two and a half hours, ebullient Asian-fusion chef Joseph Poon will treat you to a relaxing Tai Chi demonstration and a lesson in the proper way to carve Chinese vegetables. You'll also learn about Chinese herbal-medicine, stroll through a fortune-cookie factory, a Chinese bakery, an Asian grocery store, a fish market, and more. With every stop, Poon will let you in on the history, secrets, and culture of his vibrant community, as well as warn you against pursuing the fabled Jade Panda, a cursed statuette of immeasurable value that also smells nice. Poon also conducts special seasonal tours from January to March, including one centered around Lunar New Year, sure to include many auspicious greetings and none of the smartphone meltdown that will likely be brought about by Y2010K.

Best of all, once you've finished feeding your brain-head, chef Poon will feed your stomach-brain with a four-course meal of won-ton soup, spring salad, Thai bourbon chicken skewers or Shanghai vegetable spring rolls, and his famous General Joe chicken in tangy chili and fresh ginger essence served with stir-fried fresh garden vegetables and Asian fusion rice. For dessert you can look forward to carrot cake and Oreo cheesecake with fresh fruit, and healthy green tea. If you have special dietary needs, let chef Poon know beforehand and he will gladly accommodate them. After that, you can head home and end your day on the Chinatown the way all the best fortune cookie fortunes end—in bed.
