Kind staff, cool kids’ area with a simulator, and beautiful planes. Outdoors exhibits need better signage but indoor exhibits were well labeled and explained.

If you're an aviation enthusiast,, this isn't the museum for you. Of course they did have "some" kinda cool stuff, but the selection of planes on display are very, very limited. In fact, the only plane you could actually go inside of was a Boeing 727 FedEx plane, and you were limited to the cargo area only. The cockpit was blocked off. I should've driven the extra two hours to the museum in Topeka

If you're an aviation enthusiast,, this museum wouldn't be for you. The amount of aircraft to look at are very, very limited and there's only ONE you can actually go inside of and that's the FedEx 727 fuselage, cockpit is blocked off. Personally, we should've taken the two hour drive to Topeka to check out that aircraft museum. I definitely would not recommend this museum to anyone.

Great family-friendly afternoon activity. My kids as well as my parents enjoyed exploring everything the museum had to offer.

About Kansas Aviation Museum

The main goal of Kansas Aviation Museum is to inspire and preserve a community drawn together by its love of aviation, to commemorate how Wichita and Kansas helped shape aerospace development, and provide education that not only celebrates the past but encourages the future for aviation. Built within the 1935 art-deco-styled Wichita Municipal Airport, the museum houses an eclectic array of historic aircraft and artifacts. The museum had on display of more than a dozen aircraft in its ramp as well as inside, including the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress, and a rare Beech Starship, the first all composite aircraft. Aviation enthusiasts can study their evolution, from the earliest aircraft engines all the way to the latest jet turbines; inspect an Allison J-35 off a 1948 Republic F-84C Thunderjet or marvel at the museum's oldest engine, a pre-WWI four-cylinder Kemp. There is also an exciting place for children young and old in the Boeing: Science, History, and Math Learning Center complete with computer simulators, steam activities as well as the Lattner Hangar with an indoor playset, books, and much more!
