Like a child's vocabulary or the blues-rock songcraft of Bruce Willis, wine gets better with age. Enjoy the benefits of maturity with today's Groupon: for $35, you get a VIP Reserve Wines ticket to the Lake County Wine Association's Wines with Altitude event, held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 20 (a $70 value).
The Wines with Altitude festival celebrates the lush libations of nearly 100 high-elevation wines crafted by Lake County's finest vineyards. Upon arrival, guests receive a commemorative wine glass from which to sip and savor samples from dozens of vineyards. Tasters will also have access to the festival's VIP lounge, where they can preview Lake County's People's Choice Award–winning blends while comparing flavor notes and sharing hot-dog recipes with other VIPs throughout the 20,000-square-foot winery. The vineyards forge their potent sippables using high-elevation grapes from the Mayacamas Mountains north of Napa Valley. A healthy mix of vibrant soil, copious sunlight, and supportive pre-K education programs instill Lake County's wines with a rich character unlike wines grown at lower elevations.
