It's a rare treat to see an acclaimed composer conduct a performance of his own work, but that's just what you'll get in this concert, in which guest conductor and composer Z. Randall Stroope leads the Masterwork Festival Chorus and New York City Chamber Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. You'll hear Ralph Vaughan Williams' triumphant Five Mystical Songs, based on the poems of a 17th-century priest, as well a moving performance of Stroope's setting of American Rhapsody. Rounding out this concert, Sandra and Timothy Peter will lead a selection of six shorter works by Franz Schubert, Stephen Paulus, Craig Hella Johnson and more.
