Due to their tendency to rain from the sky every time India invents a new color, marigolds have long been a symbol of celebration and festivity in Indian culture. Today’s Groupon gives you just as good a reason to celebrate: for $22, you get a three-course prix fixe meal of flavorful Indian cuisine for two at Marigold Restaurant (a $55 value). This Uptown restaurant has won Best New Restaurant and garnered praise from a variety of press, blogs, and the gabby wishing well on Foster.
Currently celebrating their four-year anniversary, Marigold is offering a Groupon-exclusive prix fixe menu of tasty eats for you plus a friend, coworker, or well-heeled yeti. Start off meals by choosing one of three appetizers to share with your dining compatriot: a buttery and flaky samosa, tandoori-grilled chicken tikka skewers, or calamari bhaji tossed in a spiced chickpea and rice flour batter (each served with a basket of papadum chips and chutneys). Next, cast eye nets onto the menu of entrees, where you'll choose from plates of the Murg Makhni boneless spiced chicken tikkas; lamb curry; savory Malai Kofta dumplings; or the Saag Paneer (all served with fresh tandoori naan bread and basmati rice) before finishing your meal-sterpiece with a choice of one of the following desserts: the delicately spiced, gelato-like kulfi; sweet rice pudding kheer; or the ginger crème brûlée.
Though your Groupon does not include drinks, Marigold offers a decent selection of wines and beers, but your eyes will inevitably drift to its specialty cocktails. The spiked mango Lassi (cardamom-infused vodka, Prosecco sparkling wine, and mango nectar, $8.95) will have you feeling as warm and mellow as Marigold’s glowing, jewel-toned ambience. Bring along six people to form an official quorum, and combine two Groupons for $110 worth of savory subcontinental fare.
