When deprived of flavorful sustenance, the mouth will often retaliate by shouting your bank-account number at sporting events or turning every sentence into a high-pitched jingle. Tame an unruly tongue with today’s Groupon: for $8 you get lunch for two at the Meadowthorpe Cafe (up to a $16.96 total value). Lunches include:

  • Two featured meats
  • Any two sides
  • Cornbread
  • Two sodas or teas

Meadowthorpe Cafe's chief culinarian Joe—trained by several gastronomic gurus— expertly handcrafts traditional comfort fare, earning this casual eatery a recent feature in Urbanspoon’s Talk of the Town. The lunch special combines a hearty helping of meat, corn bread, and your choice of two sides, such as mashed potatoes and gravy or homemade macaroni and cheese. Like a ballet-dancing butcher, Joe pirouettes the lunch special's featured meat throughout the week, ensuring each day boasts a different serving of delicious protein. Come in on Monday for meat loaf, drop in Wednesday for some roast beef, or take a break from writing emails or training robots on a Thursday for a helping of baked chicken. Iced tea or soft drinks flow freely with each meal.

Meadowthorpe Cafe

Reopened in 2010, the Meadowthorpe Cafe is a quaint cafe with maple-colored wood floors, soft yellow walls, and booths constructed from fresh butter. The menu hangs over the cozy dining room, prophesying the day’s offerings of veggie-stuffed omelets, meatloaf, and buttered grits. Meadowthorpe Cafe's signature dish is the bacon, egg, and cheese Spaulding burger, a delicacy book-ended by a freshly-baked Spaulding donut.

Its a small place with lots of business. Be patient if it takes a little bit longer than normal to get your food; it is absolutely worth waiting for.
