Choose from Three Options
- $97 for a guided seven-hour group day climb for one at Malibu Creek (a $225 value)
- $125 for a guided seven-hour Rock One – An Introduction to Climbing class for one at Stony Point Park (a $250 value)
- $185 for a guided seven-hour group day climb for two (a $450 total value)
The guided group day climb accelerates through basic technical training so participants can quickly begin climbing. After a brief overview, participants begin with a hike through Malibu Creek State Park, where they'll tackle a range of climbing challenges under the supervision of a certified instructor.
Alternatively, the more formal Rock One introductory course acquaints beginners or refreshes experienced climbers with climbing equipment, basic movements, rappelling, belaying, and tying knots before they venture off on supervised climbs. Both classes are held on Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Group day climb participants should meet at the head of the Grasslands Trail in Malibu Creek State Park. Rock One participants should meet in the parking lot at Stony Point Park.
Holding certifications from organizations such as the American Mountain Guide Association, the guides behind OnRope Consulting formed the rock-climbing school to offer training for all levels of climbers. Held at one of the many mountainous locations surrounding Los Angeles, onsite classes range from introductory-level climbs to personal training. Beyond helping outdoorsman scale summits, the guides organize wilderness adventure trips, including sea kayaking, whitewater rafting, or backpacking across California's rugged, awe-inspiring terrains. For groups, they also lead team-building programs that bring people together through activities such as rope courses, camping, and hair-braiding circles.:m]]
