Like many a professional clarinetist, Julian Bliss is an admirer of the man many consider the greatest of all time, famed bandleader Benny Goodman. But Bliss has taken it a few steps further with this loving live tribute to the King of Swing. A former child prodigy and well-known British musician, Bliss and his acclaimed septet came together in 2010 based on their respect for "The Professor," and have since performed his music to sold-out crowds around the globe, not to mention releasing a successful album of the show. Now they're bringing their swinging salute to the Schimmel Center for a night of '30s-style jazz and big band favorites, including upbeat numbers like "Sing, Sing, Sing" and "Sweet Georgia Brown," as well as beautiful ballads like "Moonglow."
