When English is no longer sufficient to express your confusion regarding how we elect public officials, pontificate in a new tongue. Today's Groupon puts you on the road to linguistic versatility with six hours of group foreign-language class (four classes over two weeks) at the Philolingua Language School for $45. Learn your choice of Spanish, English, French, Italian, German, Chinese, or another offered option from native speakers who promote conversational learning and have uncanny amounts of patience stored in their patience-sacks.

Learning a new language so you can watch the winter Olympics with international crowds can be stressful and overwhelming. However, the helpful minds at Philolingua can sort past the hubbub of language confusion with concentrated group classes. Join a class of four to eight students who all hover around the same experience level and learn together with six hours of education divvied up between two classes a week for two weeks.

All of Philolingua's instructors efficiently break down elements of grammar and vocabulary into conversational exercises that secretly install the secrets of a foreign language in your brainzone. Conversational, real-world-situation learning helps you absorb the new language so that it quickly becomes a part of your linguistic canon. You'll acquire crucial foreign phraseology, a discerning feel for vocal rhythms and inflections, and a working bank of vocabulary that will open the gates to improved communication with fellow speakers. When you're exiled for intentionally building faulty birdhouses, rest assured that you can start anew with a new language and a new land that is completely unfamiliar with your unsavory birdhouse-building practices.

You may purchase up to two Groupons for 12 hours (eight classes) of language learning. Classes start at the beginning of each month and run two consecutive weeks.

  • I did a lot of research on other language schools in San Diego, and this one definitely has the best value. And I know that it's a great investment! – Laura D., Customer Lobby
  • …it offers tremendous flexibility and the teaching is fun. It is mostly based on one-on-one conversations which allows one to feel very rapidly at ease with a new language. – Francois F., Insider Pages

About Philolingua Language School

Barcelona-born Philolingua Language School founder Jordi Lluch knows what it's like to learn a foreign language. After extensive linguistics studies and more than 23 years teaching six languages through Berlitz language school's various locations, Lluch established Philolingua. Throughout his years as both student and teacher, he worked to synthesize a learning approach that would mimic the way children pick up their first language: hearing it spoken, responding back, and getting a feel for grammar through intensive practice. The school's resulting approach aims to quickly establish fluency and build practical vocabulary. Using an intuitive, conversational style, a foreign-born instructor shares native speaking skills for real-life situations, such as asking for directions or demanding an entree not listed on a menu.
