What You'll Get
The Scots developed golf to irk common loch pests, such as merats, locharoaches, and Nessie—who to this day rarely surfaces for fear of being beaned by a well-aimed ball. Brush up your monster-vexing skills with today's Groupon: for $34, you get one round of golf for two people, including a golf-cart rental, at Pine Knolls Golf Club in Kernersville (up to a $68 value).
Stretching across more than 6,200 yards of rolling fairways and bottomless bunkers, the course at the Pine Knolls Golf Club offers a par 72 vacation along peaceful rows of handsome North Carolina pines. The course is distinguished by its small, complex greens known to perplex polished short games and hidden electromagnets capable of yanking irons out of hesitant backswings. Experienced pros and first-time links legionnaires find ample opportunities to test their accuracy acumen by landing shots around the sand traps and concentration-testing water hazards peppered across difficult holes. Each twosome comes with a cart rental, allowing golfers to save energy normally expended pushing around portable smelters used to repair broken clubs.
Although Pine Knolls Golf Club sometimes features a discounted price online, this Groupon offers the best deal available.

About Pine Knolls Golf Club
Built in 1969 and having hosted the 2001 National Golf Association Triad Classic, Pine Knolls Golf Club has a long and sparkling history. In 2006, two brothers-in-law from Ireland—Graham Ruttle, a retired professional motorcycle racer, and Pearse Mahon, a class-A PGA professional—purchased the course. Today, they carry on its tradition of challenging and enjoyable play. To conquer the 6,338-yard layout, golfers must decipher the course’s small and complex greens, which requires even more concentration than geocaching for holes on a course that spans an entire city. To calibrate their swings before tackling the course, golfers can warm up at the grass-tee driving range or enlist Mahon's advice in a private lesson.
