What You'll Get
At the age at which most children learn to speak, Mozart had already composed four symphonies, restored 11 classic cars, and built a robot to play against in squash. Catch up to Mozart's accomplishments with today's Groupon: for $50, you get one month of music lessons (up to a $100 value) at Preslar Music. Choose from the following types of lessons: guitar, piano, voice, drum, or bass.
This Groupon is valid only for classes in May. The first class must be scheduled in the first week of May.
The music instructors at Preslar Music turn hesitant hands into instrument-dominating automatons and trembling vocal cords into melody megaphones with half-hour, one-on-one lessons for students of all ages. Guitar instructors Stephen Lee and Brandon Autry teach sight-reading, ear training, music theory, and musical composition to guitar-strumming newbies, and classically trained pianists Melissa Magill, Gretchen Knurr, and Kitt Bender combine classical piano techniques with practical and applicable knowledge, such as keeping a tempo or distinguishing between the damper and brake pedals. Voice lessons with Katy Stefanic-Holder and Susannah Brooks refine the tone and overall sound of the singing voice while allowing students to reach their optimal singing potential through sight-singing. Drum lessons with Mark Meeker inspire spirited rimshots at so-so punch lines, and bass lessons thicken the calluses on players' thumbs to enable a more persuasive hitchhiking technique. Most lessons are available by appointment throughout the day until 8 p.m., though daytime appointments are limited and lunchtime or early-afternoon appointments are more available. Voice lessons are only available from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Call ahead to set up a time.
Though Preslar Music offers its first class free with a one-month commitment, this Groupon is still the best deal available.
