About PNC Carousel
More than a century ago, the original Schenley Park Carousel took its first spin at the corner of Panther Hollow and Greenfield Roads. So when the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy breathed new life into the park in 2006 after many years as a parking lot, a carousel was viewed as essential to carrying on the park's legacy. The PNC Carousel is the crown jewel of Schenley Plaza, its mirrored facades glittering in the sunlight with every revolution. Like the original, a menagerie of animals sponsored by some of Pittsburgh's most charitable citizens honors the city's diverse population.
The Victorian-style finishes are complemented by a pipe organ, which plays old-fashioned tunes as little ones glide up and down on eagles, giraffes, and elephants. Older riders are welcome to board the stationary seats, and the wheelchair-accessible design ensures all guests can take a spin.
