Bread of LIfe Community Deli
Bread of Life Community Deli, formerly Pot Belly Deli, has three goals: end hunger, stop food waste, and build a healthy community. They also have a plan to live out these goals by asking their patrons to pay what they can. If they can't pay, they can volunteer at the deli for an hour and earn their meal. Every sandwich—just like every salad and side—is made to order, with care, thoughtful curation, and fresh ingredients. When customers watch their meals come together, they see cooks splitting avocados, sliding trays of hickory-smoked bacon into the oven, and baking peanut-butter bars from scratch for dessert. Thanks to the goals of the eatery, they also can sense the community feel of the place, which most recently has included almost daily free massages from local chiropractic offices as well as chances to donate to area charities.
