About Raceway Golf Club
The course? 18 holes sprawled across the greenest of green blankets of rolling hills, historical stone walls, and canopies of old grown trees, with a panoramic design that's so New England, you can probably tap maple syrup from the sand traps. The last green (at hole 16) was built in that New England push-up style in 1947, when father John Hoenig and his PGA son, Donald, first designed and built the original nine holes of Raceway Golf Club on their dairy farm. Besides the addition of nine more holes in the early '60s, plus fairways renovations and the introduction of irrigation, Raceway Golf Club still maintains it's '50s nine-hole charm.
After a relaxing morning on the greens or a soothing sunset stroke, guests can lounge and socialize over at Raceway Restaurant, which serves signature Raceway burgers, Friday Seafood Frenzies, and frosty brews, or they can pick from more than 30 flavors at Bogey's Ice Cream Stand, where a hole in one involves eating an entire scoop of ice cream in one bite. The club also hosts tournaments and offers lessons for fledgling golfers and those just trying to up their game, and it's located on the same property as the Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park for those seeking racing action.
