Hands are nature's silverware—evidenced by early humankind's serrated pointer finger and forked thumb. Today's Groupon arms limbed utensils with new Southern cuisine. For $25, you get $50 worth of creative Southern eats and drinks and a Wednesday wine tasting at Relish Restaurant in Roswell. Though the wine tasting (a $10 value) is only offered on Wednesdays, you can use the feasting portion of your Groupon on a different day (except Mondays when the entire restaurant is closed). Call ahead with your Groupon number handy to book your spot for wine Wednesday, and after the tasting you'll get 10% off any purchase of the wines featured during the two-hour event at the neighboring All Y'all's Wine and Gourmet Market.
Relish's various menus sweep Southern cuisine into a passionate embrace before injecting it with a loaded syringe of contemporary flair. Open for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch, the charming eatery encourages patrons to savor each bite with unexpected flavor combinations that imbue hearty fare with delicate subtlety. Kick off a dinner feast with pimiento cheese fritters served with pepper jelly ($6.95) before grazing on a Relish salad (with corn, black-eyed peas, red-pepper relish, tomato, cucumber, and grit-ons, $6.95) or forking the succulent bacon-wrapped mountain trout with sweet-potato hash ($16.95). Don't miss the decadent Krispy Kreme bread pudding accompanied with an espresso cream sauce ($6.25) for dessert. Sunday brunch is served buffet style ($16.95 for adults, $7.95 for children 6–10, $3.95 for children 5 and under, and $0.99 for children of the corn). Mix your meal with a refreshing beverage like Relish's signature freshly squeezed cucumber lemonade ($2.99) or one of around 50 varieties of wine.
During the included Wednesday wine tasting, sippers sample six to eight wines and receive complimentary paired nibbles. The restaurant's vast arsenal of wines by the bottle ensures a nice variety of grapey libations during the try-fest. Winers and diners can look forward to a casual bistro atmosphere where conversations swirl and mustachioed gentlemen exchange dubious glances. Weather permitting, a spacious outdoor patio allows patrons to dose up on Vitamin D in the sun while socializing. The establishment's neighborhood feel creates a welcoming dinner destination for dates or a family that hasn't seen each other since last time they were at Relish.
- ...expanding on a stable of simple dishes that are part Southern bistro, part grandma's house...There's plenty at Relish to enjoy. – Meridith Ford
- That relaxed atmosphere shows in the no-fuss menu, with plenty of Southern-inspired favorites. The runaway hits so far: the pimento cheese fritters, sitting in a pool of sweet pepper jelly and oozing hot orange cheese when sliced; and grouper atop a blend of roasted corn and lima beans. The pan-roasted chicken breast with sweet potato ravioli and spinach in a brown butter sauce and the grilled rib-eye with scalloped potatoes are two other hot items. – H. M. Cauley
- The fried pimento cheese balls with pepper jelly are divine! – OpenTable user who dined on 1/22/10
- The Krispy Kreme bread pudding lives up to every word the servers say extolling its virtues. More cake-like than pudding like, it's accompanied by an espresso cream sauce that perfectly cuts what could almost be a too-sweet dessert. – Kristin B., Yelp
