- $399 for an eight-week Creative Alternative Dance and Arts camp ($800 value)
Kids 6–12 learn to express themselves through myriad dance styles, ranging from salsa and bachata to hip-hop and ballet. Each day of camp may include other activities such as yoga, stretching, and meditation as well as visual arts-and-crafts workshops where campers will experiment with colors and shapes as they learn to make their own set and costumes. Weekly field trips and themed days keep camp fresh. Sessions end with a camper-produced final performance for family and friends.
Camp sessions run Monday–Friday, June 23–July 18 and July 21–August 15. All-day camp sessions start at 9 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.
Alfred Pena founded Rhythmology to bring an in-depth study of rhythm and dance to the public. Along with a team of experienced instructors, Alfred enlightens minds and bodies in various Latin dance styles including salsa, bachata, merengue, west coast swing, flamenco, international latin, and hustle.
Rhythmology spreads the words and beats of dance via students and semipro dance teams and stays in touch with the Latin community with Latin parties throughout the area. Alfred still maintains a career as a professional competitive salsa dancer, and was featured in Prince Royce’s music video of “Stand by Me”. Additionally, he is the current U.S. bachata champion, the U.S. salsa runner-up champion, and a finalist in scores of world salsa championships.
