Sometimes our dreams are within reach, but more often, those dreams are on the highest of high shelves, beside the BB gun and the cupcakes "for tomorrow." Reach that shelf with today's Groupon: for $30, you get your choice of 10 classes (a $130 value) at Rising Lotus Yoga, located in Sherman Oaks. Find inner peace and outer strength in Rising Lotus Yoga’s inviting urban studio, where welcoming masters of movement bend and shape undergraduate yogis' pliable bodies and gooey mind-matter. Choose from any of 10 classes to build stamina, strength, and usage of neon sweatbands. Inspired by the Vinyasa-flow discipline, the variety of courses caters to all levels and includes the rejuvenating end-of-day sunset yoga and the breath-sequencing, focus-fortifying mixed-level flow courses (see schedule).
While Rising Lotus sometimes offers a new-student discount, this Groupon is still the best deal available.
- Co-owners Claire Hartley and Daniel Stewart have built a true community in the three years since they opened their studio in the Valley. Offering a wide range of classes and special workshops, Rising Lotus feels like a sanctuary. This humble yoga studio is a place of deep nourishment, not only physical but also emotional and spiritual. – Pauline Adamek, My Daily Find
- I've been going here every Sunday morning for the past year and love it. Daniel is the co-owner and teaches Sunday mornings. He is wonderful! Point of interest, Creed from "The Office" (who's actual name is Creed in real life) comes here Sunday mornings too. :) I only recently made the connection that it was him. I love that show! Who knew he was in my class this whole time?!! – Ali W., Yelp
Rising Lotus Yoga
A diverse team of instructors fills Rising Lotus Yoga's bright studio with a profusion of beginner and advanced yoga classes seven days a week. Recently relocated in Sherman Oaks, the spacious center includes three practice rooms, which offer plenty of natural light, a zen communal area, in addition to plentiful parking. Through more than a dozen types of yoga classes, the instructors help students deepen familiar poses, develop breathing techniques, and finally remove their yoga mats' training wheels. They teach traditional yoga styles such as Iyengar and hatha-based Gentle & Therapeutics, as well as the studio's signature class, Rising Lotus Flow, which aims to merge body and mind through dynamic, creative vinyasa sequences. The instructors guide students through three different skill levels and can train the most dedicated among them to become yoga teachers.
When not perfecting students' postures and teaching trees to breathe louder, Rising Lotus Yoga's instructors lend their time to the Seva Project, an initiative to bring the healing benefits of yoga to people in crisis.
