Rolling Meadows Golf Course
The 160 acres that Rolling Meadows Golf Course occupies today have been home to many people over the centuries. The earliest known inhabitants were the Potawatomi tribe, whose descendants coexisted with American settlers for many years. Evidence of these Native Americans—burial grounds, 4,000-year-old arrowheads, and ceremonial sand-bunker rakes—can still be found nearby. Then, in 1968, three brothers bought the land and spent 10 years transforming it into an 18-hole delight.
Today Rolling Meadows welcomes players to challenge its 6,474-yard layout from any of three sets of tees. Water hazards add to the task on the back nine, forcing chip shots on approach to avoid over-shooting the green and getting wet. Then, there's the 17th. A small pond here separates the tee from the green, and only an expertly aimed drive will keep players from taking a bath.
