One of the city's true cultural jewels, the Smuin Ballet still shines brightly in its 22nd season with cutting-edge pieces like the world premiere featured in their latest performance, Dance Series Two at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Set to an original score by Emmy-winning composer Jeff Beal (House of Cards), choreographer Helen Pickett explores the abundance and scarcity of water in her much-anticipated new work, Oasis. Also on tap is the emotion-filled Return to a Strange Land by legendary Czech contemporary dance master Jirí Kylián, and the whimsically titled Tutto Eccetto il Lavandino (everything but the kitchen sink) by Val Caniparoli, a dynamic neoclassical piece set to Vivaldi.
Event Description:
There’s a post-show meet-and-greet with the dancers following the May 6th performance.
