Having a support team makes facing challenges much easier, especially when trying to stay fit or making a human pyramid. Shore yourself up with today's Groupon: for $79, you get a five-week adult fitness camp from Start Caring in Denton (a $199 value). Camp meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 5:15 a.m. to 6:15 a.m at the Guyer High School football field. Choose between the following dates: June 13–July 17 or July 25–August 26.
The nonprofit organization Start Caring fights childhood obesity and generates fiscal fuel for its youth programs through intensive adult camps that couple fitness smarts with nutrition know-how. Designed by fitness maven Shellee Enfinger, the adult fitness camp molds the muscles of 20–60 physique sleekers in a class with a 15-to-1 trainee-to-trainer ratio. Before camp starts, participants will receive a private fitness evaluation to measure against post-camp results and a nutrition program to help instill healthy eating habits. Each session features a rotating roster of disciplines—including yoga and Pilates, weight training, obstacle courses, calisthenics, and semaphoring Whitesnake lyrics—that help bodies thwart the repetition plateau that can sap muscles' developmental prowess.
The program employs a buddy system to keep campers accountable, and features a website packed with workout plans, food journals, nutrition guides, and Pac-Man cheat codes. Camp culminates with a fitness evaluation, T-shirt distribution, and prizes.
Campers should bring a water bottle and towel, and wear comfortable clothes and good running shoes, including layers in cold weather. Activities will be held indoors during inclement weather.
