Before cameras, people seeking to leave a legacy could only hope to secure their place in future textbooks by poisoning the emperor. Avoid being a mere footnote with this Groupon.

While Tobi-Dawne Smith—TD Photography’s namesake and resident shutterbug—has always been an artist, her original mode of expression was not through the lens of a camera but through work on stage and in front of an easel. After studying painting in university, Tobi-Dawne found herself drawn in by the promise of capturing real life in all its kinetic glory afforded by photography, picking up a camera soon thereafter. In the years since her first foray into photography she has continued her quest to snap essence-capturing portraits of each of her subjects, eschewing studio posing and tired props for verisimilar composition. Tobi-Dawne’s photojournalistic approach to her art is exemplified in her insistence on shooting as her clients partake in activities they love amidst Saskatoon’s natural and man-made sites, from hiking in Cranberry Flats to quietly reading their favourite phone book at home.
