- $79 for one basic massage class with oil for two people ($160 value)
Participants in this massage class should come prepared to relax and should dress accordingly knowing that lots of oil will be applied to the body. Because of this, the Acupuncture Works recommends wearing bathing suits, and that women wear a two piece. Each class focuses on a different body part. The class will teach clients how to administer massages and will go over strokes, anatomy, and kinesiology. One partner will then lie on the massage table while the other performs a massage under the instructor’s watchful eyes. After a short break, the partners will switch. As part of the class, participants will also be able to use and take home their choice of Protecting Sesame or Nurturing Sweet Almond Oil, with other oils available for purchase.
Generally, classes take place on Tuesday evenings and Sunday afternoons several times per month.
The Acupuncture Works
Linda Robinson-Hidas has been practicing acupuncture on Amherst's citizens since 1991, using hair-thin needles to help break up energy blockages in the body. She inserts the needles into specific points, depending on the client's ailments, which may range from pain to anxiety. She often pairs her acupuncture treatments with Chinese herbs.
Linda also combines her acupuncture treatments with massage, if necessary. Her massage-therapy experience actually goes back to the 1980s, when she graduated from massage school. From time to time, she leads massage classes and passes her expertise onto others.
