About The Right Spot Pet Massage
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
I am Nationally Certified in pet massage and have logged 400+ hours (and counting!) of education and hands-on training for pet massage and other healing therapies. I have been featured in both the Chicago Tribune and on CBS’ Someone You Should Know with Harry Porterfield. My business, The Right Spot Pet Massage, offers massage for all breeds of dogs and cats, as well as small animals. The Right Spot works to create superb health and well-being for your pet by providing individually tailored massage sessions for your pet’s specific needs.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
In 2001, my 5 year-old dog Fairway, developed a blood disorder. Her prognosis was grave, and she was put on a large dose of steroids to “make her comfortable.” I was devastated. I decided to search for some alternative methods in addition to her more traditional veterinary care. It took almost 2 years to restore Fairway’s health, which was nothing short of amazing! She received regular acupuncture treatments, along with a wide variety of supplements. Fairway lived a full life until the ripe old age 15 1/2. (Pretty great for a Lab/Golden Retriever!) I thank her every day for the wonderful holistic and healing path she led me to, because her remarkable journey marked the beginning of my journey into alternative therapies for pets. Here I am over 15 years later, loving every minute of it!
What do you love most about your job?
Everything! What’s not to love?! I get to work with, and help, amazing animals. I meet fabulous pet guardians who are invested in their pets’ well-being. Everyday I learn something new from both the animals and their owners, and I get to share what I have learned along the way.
What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?
Pet guardians letting me know how much better their pet seems to feel following massage – pets that have an easier time moving after a massage, pets whose anxiety has lessened after massage, pets’ that get excited when they see me, the list goes on and on. I also love it when pet guardians tell me how excited their pet gets on the way to see me! I have a client at a doggy daycare that will run from the daycare to the massage area, bark at me to begin, and if anyone dares to interrupt her session, she will glare and bark at them! Another pat mom once said to me, “I saw my dog do something she has not done in months – stretch (after her massage).”
