About Tía Pol

After their respective travels in Spain, Heather Belz and Mani Dawes decided to take on a risky restaurant-transplant procedure: installing a neighborhood tapas bar in New York. The pair founded Tía Pol—named after a friendly cat that Mani met in Málaga—with authenticity in mind. A 2004 feature in the New York Times details an ever-changing menu, but Tía Pol has since been reviewed in publications such as the Daily Beast and New York magazine, which labeled it a "tiny, talented kitchen" that "concentrates on the classics."

From Navarran-style trout to lamb skewers with moorish spices, the bar's small plates encompass a wide stretch of Spanish influences. The chefs adjust their ingredients and techniques based on the time of day. The wine list is likewise varied in flavor but entirely Spanish in origin.
