The call of the wild is like a call from an elderly grandparent: though you can't quite make out what's being said, you feel better about yourself when you answer. Pick up nature's phone with this Groupon.
Choose Between Two Options
- $50 for an instructional rappelling adventure for one (a $105 value)
- $99 for an instructional rappelling adventure for two (a $210 value)
After a moderate hike through Castle Rock State Park, experienced and certified climbing guides teach participants about rappelling techniques, rigging, equipment, and safety measures. Students then spend the second part of the trip rappelling down cliffs using equipment provided by Treks and Tracks, including helmets, harnesses, ropes, and rappelling devices. A low student-to-teacher ratio (6:1 at most) ensures adventurers get all the individualized attention they need.
Participants should bring lunch or a snack, water, sun protection, a day backpack, and sturdy walking shoes or boots. See the schedule for Castle Rock State Park trips.
Treks and Tracks
Surrounded by craggy peaks, three men in bright red helmets stand in the midst of wilderness, surveying the mountains around them as their group of hikers break for a snack on the rocky ground. This interface with the majesty of nature is all in a day's work for this trio of adventurers: Paul Mangasarian and Jakob and Daniel Laggner. Still, their passion for open-air exploration grows with each expedition they lead. Paul, Jakob, and Daniel cofounded Treks and Tracks with the dream of orchestrating excursions into nature that combine ancient means of travel—such as sailing, horseback riding, and hitchhiking on a centaur—with modern sports ranging from surfing to rock climbing. Though they focus on introducing novice outdoorsfolk to unspoiled wilderness around the world, Treks and Tracks' cofounders also strive to leave the awe-inspiring surroundings they visit as pristine as they found them by rigorously upholding practices of environmental stewardship on each expedition.
