Like Olympic swimmers and gremlins, tea leaves only reveal their true power after being dunked in water. Unleash hidden strength with today’s Groupon: for $20, you get $40 worth of tea and lunch plus 15% off at the gift shop at Two A Tea in Glendora.
Two A Tea's owner and chef Kristi Harfman sends trays of finger foods and pots of black, green, and herbal teas out into a Victorian-style tearoom tucked away in the San Gabriel foothills. Acknowledged ruler of the menu kingdom, the Royal High Tea package ($31.95) proclaims edicts of satiety with the approval of a fresh-baked scone, a cadre of assorted tea sandwiches, and soup, sorbet, garden salad and choice of dessert. The Cream Tea course ($12.95) salutes the senses with two scones and a three-piece band of clotted cream, lemon curd, and berry preserves. All menu packages include a sentient teapot filled with one of 40 different hot-water infusions, including forest berries, chocolate caramel, or green Earl Grey bravo. Teas also occupy an a la carte menu, where they reside alongside the citrus and flora double-team of rosewater lemonade ($4.25).
As they sip, diners also drink in eyefuls of the tearoom's custard walls and floral decorations. Two A Tea's gift shop seduces guests to linger longer with a menagerie of loose-leaf teas looking for a willing home, tea-themed books, and teapots in shapes such as toads, flowers, and vintage monster trucks.
Two A Tea
With a refined afternoon-tea program that boasts a selection of more than 40 loose-leaf teas, Two a Tea serves a traditional menu of homemade scones, hearty soups, fresh salads, finger tea sandwiches, and selection of seasonal desserts, served midday into the early evening, Wednesday–Sunday. Over pastel-colored tablecloths, tea takers raise cups brimming with jasmine, earl grey, and passionfruit teas to toast to birthdays, new babies, and the memory of all the leaves lost at the Boston Tea Party. Two a Tea's boutique outfits at-home tea rooms with all the necessary teas and accessories, including infusers, books, and loose-leaf teas.
