Q&A with Kathy Thorne, Owner/Creator
Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
[With] fun and new styles. Barre is new to this area and because it is a ballet-based workout taught by dancers (to new pop music), the choreography of the class changes all the time. [Clients can] also try sassy burlesque, adult-jazz, ballet, and tap classes or barre [classes] without the barre. Balance your hardcore classes with Dancers Stretch.
Besides working out, what else can clients do to spend their time at your facility?
Unity is where it all comes together—fitness, diet, and mindfulness. We offer nutrition consultation, including applied kinesiology. [We have] a noninvasive test to find body imbalances, such as a vitamin deficiency or even food allergies. [We also have] monthly seminars on health-related topics, such as essential oils, MELT, cancer prevention, and more.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
Unity is owned by a professional dancer, who teaches the importance of proper placement for injury prevention. Most barre studios are franchised and not run by a dancer who has trained for many years. We offer a Barre Basics class to break down placement and positioning to ensure proper alignment and injury prevention.
