A golf course is a scenic sanctuary where young blades of grass receive constant grooming and grizzled grains of sand can retire far away from merciless ocean waves. Explore a relaxing landscape with today's Groupon to Watson Ranch Golf Course in Coos Bay. Choose between the following options:
- For $40, you get 18 holes of golf for two people (up to an $80 value).
- For $79, you get 18 holes of golf for four people and four buckets of range balls (up to a $172 value).
Huddled in a quaint valley that shelters it from coastal wind, Watson Ranch has been providing airborne golf balls with welcoming runways for more than 85 years. Noted early 20th-century golfer and golf architect H. Chandler Egan designed the first nine holes of the year-round, par 72 course, one of the earliest to inhabit the coast of Southern Oregon. The course tasks eagle seekers with conquering tree-lined fairways laden with sloped greens, devious water hazards, and hordes of befuddled bobsledders. Shots that depart from the blue tees will end up covering more than 6,400 yards. Throughout the round, golfers can admire the deer and other local wildlife that populate the area or pretend not to notice them to seem cool.

Watson Ranch Golf
Seventy-five years separate Watson Ranch Golf’s front and back nines, which billow across an undulating parcel of wooded terrain just east of the Coos River. Known as Coos Country Club when it opened for play in 1923, the course’s original nine holes were designed by H. Chandler Egan. A successful amateur golfer himself, his idea of a proper introduction was welcoming players with a pair of stiff par 5s. While Mr. Egan would go on to redesign the famous Pebble Beach Golf Links just six years later, Watson Ranch Golf remained a 9-hole course until 1998, when it sprouted a back nine. Today, the 18-hole course also incorporates a driving range, a chipping area, and two practice putting greens where golfers can limber up before acquainting themselves with Mr. Egan’s opening holes.
