Hilton Garden Inn Albuquerque Airport

Shabby and definitely not chic After a long and tedious day of travel with nearly everything that could go wrong doing so, I was looking forward to a “no hassle” stay at HGI. Unfortunately, that’s not what I got. First, likely through no fault of the hotel, the digital key system wasn’t working. At first, this was just annoying. But upon arriving at the hotel, it became even more of an issue. The front of the hotel was completely blocked by cars, so I thought I’d just go ahead and park and check in. The problem is that the parking deck is down a long ramp. The door to the elevators going to the front desk was locked - had I had a digital key, that wouldn’t have been an issue. So instead I had to trudge back up the steep ramp in the rain and dark which made it very dangerous. Check in was relatively uneventful and efficient. The room was absolutely not up to HGI - or ANY Hilton property - standards. Every corner of the bathroom and shower was dirty and/or mildewed. I’m not sure that there wasn’t black mold in some areas. The bedside table even had “gunk” on it. The closet area is hardly that! There is barely enough space to hang more than one or two shirts. There are a few shelves but they are too shallow to be of any use. There was a small dresser under the tv, but it is apparent that they expect this to only be a one-night-stay type of place for people coming and going from the airport. I’m certainly glad I only stayed one night, and I won’t repeat that mistake. The only bright spots were that the water pressure in the shower was fantastic and it heated up quickly. Also, the Hilton Reward waters were in the mini fridge and nicely chilled. There are a lot of nice places to stay in ABQ. This isn’t one of them.

Perfectly Pleasant Airport Hotel This is a solid HGI. The room was nice, well appointed, with a comfortable bed. The hotel has been renovated somewhat recently and it all looked nice. The airport shuttle came quickly and dropped us off easy-peasy. We had some issues at breakfast, the waiter was young and seemed to be overwhelmed (he forgot to put our order in to the kitchen until I reminded him). I would stay here again if I needed a hotel near the airport.

Not great This hotel was fair. The good: The airport shuttle was good , very quick early morning. The bar downstairs had good service & ok food, friendly bartender. Not good: room needs rehab, microwave had food crumbs inside, pillows/bed/sheets not comfortable. I would not stay here again there’s better options by the airport.

As expected This is where I stay when in Albuquerque. It has always been a great experience. The rooms are always comfortable and clean. I love the electronic key although this visit it did not work and I had to go to the desk to get it working. Which was taken care of very quickly. I will be back when in town.

Easy airport hotel. Jacob on night shift at front door is wonderful! Had a delayed flight and needed an overnight in ABQ before heading to the mountains. Special recognition to Jacob on evening/night shift at the front door. Family had left car key for me with front desk, yet when I arrived the desk clerk said it wasn't there and made cursory attempt to look, insisting nothing had been dropped off on her shift. I asked her to look again and offered to look myself, but I was not allowed behind the counter. She was grumbling and I was just a little bit peeved since the car was parked within view of the front door, so I knew the key had to be there. Jacob seemed to know exactly which drawer to look in and found an envelope with my name on it and key inside. Yay! When I checked out before dawn next morning, I encountered smiling Jacob on my way out. Management should know he is a wonderful employee.
