Large, quiet and safe Excellent stay!! Staff was very friendly night and day. You have to pass the check in booth very close to enter so the front desk sees everyone coming and going from the front. We got Chicken tenders & fries and Street tacos for dinner. They were both delicious, warm and good portion. Stopped by bar before close the the manager was nice to talk to and made great drinks. Pool and hot tub are a bit small but not a lot of people there so didn’t feel crowded. The gym had everything you need to do a quick workout. The room was large (we had 2 beds) and quiet. They are doing some renovations so some of the paint looks spotty but not terrible. The rest of the hotel looked excellent and brand new with a large lobby to relax in with a drink or breakfast. We will be staying here next time we are in Ames.

Filthy Our room was absolutely filthy....sticky floors with with some sort of dried liquid that had not been cleaned/mopped. I tried wipping the floor with a washcloth ( see photo). The room smelled horribly. The bed was lumpy and very uncomfortable. The room was very dark and very poorly lit. I had to sit by the window to read as the light by the bed would not work properly. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

Closer to a Hampton Inn This is a Hilton Garden Inn in name only. The only food available in the market were pop tarts. The ice machine on my floor was out of order. The hot tub was out of order. My room had one (1) garbage can in it, in the bathroom. The only light in the bed space was the tiny light on a nightstand. The other furniture was low-end. It’s clear this hotel makes its money on big college weekends and ignores its maintenance etc during the off season. My favorite part of the stay was discovering that the shampoo container in the shower was empty. I made this discovery while I was in the shower. The man who handled breakfast did an excellent job, though he’d be better served with some help. Nope I won’t be back, and management won’t miss me

Update Needed The location of this property is very convenient being right next to Perfect Game bowling and mini golf. The down side is this property needs updated as the carpets were stained, bathtub was wore and wouldn’t drain, and lighting in the bathroom was very dim.

Poor customer service. I have stayed previously at this property with no issues. However, I recently had two rooms reserved with points. Stayed the first night with no issue. The second night the staff claimed we were a no show on one room, and in order to complete my stay my credit card was billed, in addition to the points we already paid. As a ten year Hilton Diamond member, this marked the first time management has refused to make it right. The hotel manager has not returned my call. I will never stay at this property again. I have filed an appeal with the Diamond Desk at Hilton, and waiting for a response from them.
