Iowa State's almost-on-campus excellent little hotel It's an old fraternity house on the edge of campustown, very well fixed up to provide a quality boutique hotel stay. Bed was comfy, room was of a reasonable size, very clean, TV &wifi worked well, powerful shower, hearty breakfast cooked fresh, nice lounge and TV/games room. Lots of parking. Fab stay when visiting ISU. Only catch: only a few rooms available, so book early esp around graduation! Highly recommended.

#1 place to stay if you prefer to walk to most things on campus. Iowa House has a GREAT location. The ambience is so quaint . The rooms are clean and each is unique. . You can walk to almost building on campus. We always love to stay here but book early as it fills up quickly for home game days & graduation. Its a great spot for friends meeting. There is an outdoor fire pit and of course common areas where everyone can hang out.

Nice Place. Check your bill. Nice place to stay. Check your credit card statement -- their billing system is "quirky." They didn't want to honor the online price. When they did, they they wanted to change the price. A couple days after we left we saw charges for an extra night. All resolved with a phone call. FYI: Check your bill.

Hidden Gem in Ames The Iowa House stay exceeded our expectations! Welcome and entry instructions went very smooth. Their details were all spot on. Clean facility and friendly atmosphere. The old renovated home is a perfect cozy place to stay when away from home. Ambience is is relaxed and calm. Good breakfast and snacks. Kendra was a delightful hostess during our stay!

If you have plans at Iowa State, the Iowa House is where you need to be. I had to make a change in my reservation. I called at 12:30 in the morning to leave a voice message and lo behold a live person answered and helped me solve my issue- Amazing! Great accommodations! The service level was first rate! The breakfast was fabulous! The purpose of our stay was to tour Iowa State the next day. I must say, for all the reasons I listed plus Iowa House is located just blocks away from campus and downtown Ames. Unless it's completely booked, why wouldn't you make Iowa House your overnight stay destination?
