Great Birthday Visit! We had the friendliest most welcoming reception. The room was one of their newer renovated ones and was absolutely to our liking. Edgar made sure that we were totally taken care of. The AC in the room was brilliantly cold just how I like it (but was adjustable just in case you don’t)

Comfortable, clean, and walkable to AU We came to town for a wedding with a reception at the University. We parked at the Surrey Inn and walked to and from the reception. The room was clean and comfortable. We paid a little extra for the King Suite (which was huge) so that we'd have extra space for our pack and play. Even with the extra gigantic room, I think it still cost the same as a small room by the highway and we didn't have to drive home from the reception.

Almost Horrendous I have two positives on this hotel. 1) No bugs in our room. 2) Beds were not totally uncomfortable. Now for the negatives. 1) Our room smelled strongly of urine and smoke, so bad as we had to go purchase air freshners. 2) While the air conditioner worked, it was so loud that we had to buy ear plugs. 3) There really is rare to none housekeeping services. Never once were our beds made, floors were not vacuumed, and we had to ask for clean towels 4 of our 7 night stay. 4) The floors were gross with smeary like stains and sticky areas. So glad we had house shoes with us. 5) NOT SECURE at night. The back doubled doors say they are locked between 10 pm - 6am. That may be true, However, the door just to the left of them, does NOT ever close, probably not even able to do so. 6) Weird, but while our car was the only one in the parking area, night after night, there are still people that possibly live permanently in the hotel that are never seen. 7) Celing squeaked loudly when occupants above moved around. 8) Garbage was not taken from our room but mane once. 9) The owners are NOT hospitable. 10) Toilet seat was broken and slid over when used. If you get stuck here because of Priceline, you are just screwed because the owners will not accomplish date you other than giving you a room. Also you are issued a key, like a real key to get into your room. And if you check in with the urgent need to potty, there are no facilities in the lobby. Breakfast is only served between 7-9am.

horrendous stay My family (husband, daughter, and 2 dogs) made a reservation to stay at the Surrey Inn in Ashland, OH through Booking, com. We were planning to stay there for 2 nights (May 2nd and 3rd, 2018) in order to watch the GLIAC Outdoor Track Championships. On the Booking.com website, it said the Surrey Inn was pet friendly and that there may be additional fees per the hotel’s policy. I also looked at the Surrey Inn before booking and found there to be no pet policy written on their site. Therefore, to make sure they were okay with us bringing our dogs, I wrote a note to the hotel upon booking on Booking.com stating “Just wanted to let you know we will be bringing our dogs”. I figured if there were additional fees or issues that the hotel manager would notify me before showing up. This unfortunately was not the case. Upon arriving at the Surrey Inn, the lady who checked me didn’t even point out they had a pet policy, instead it was just written on a piece of paper on the check-in desk. Much to my surprise, they had an EXTENSIVE and STRICT pet policy (see image). They only allowed 1 dog… despite me notifying them ahead of time that I would be bringing my dogs (plural, meaning more than 1). Had I known their policy ahead of time, I would NOT have booked my stay at this hotel and would have opted for hotel with a much more reasonable policy and one that fit our needs. Due to the athletic event held at the college, I was unsure if we would be able to find other accommodations, therefore we asked if we could still stay since we had NO idea they only allowed 1 dog. They did permit this, however, they charged us $25/night (an additional fee per dog and a nightly fee which was not detailed on their ‘pet policy’ pictured below). Additionally, the accommodation was horrendous, the bed was sunken in so badly that both my husband and I experienced pain in our backs while ATTEMPTING to fall asleep. On top of that, while they advertise having air conditioning, our air conditioner was only blowing our warm air. We notified the front desk but were told there was nothing they could do for us because they were sold out. Thus, we were up until 4am trying to sleep in many different arrangements (floor, opposite ends of the bed, sleeping across the width of the matress, etc…) with cold/wet washcloths on our bodies. It was a terrible night of sleep, the worst we had ever experienced. Therefore, we decided to leave a day early, giving up our second night stay, which we had already paid for. We packed up our bags, early in the morning and when we handed over the keys to the front desk, we complained about our stay and the lack of communication across media platforms regarding their pet policy. The man in charge simply apologized, half-heartedly and pushed the blame on everyone else except the Surrey Inn. There was a complete lack of accountability, customer service, and quality assurance. When asked for a refund, which would have been the right thing to do- at the very least for the second night- I was told Booking.com handles that, even though I paid at the hotel, swiping my card on their credit card processor. Once again, I believe this was another lie and attempt to push the blame and accountability on someone else. I was truly disgusted by the service they provided us with at the Surrey Inn and would never recommend anyone stay there.

New owners The new owners are in process of remodeling and the new manager is making people feel very welcome. Kim, Manager, made us feel very welcome. ' This is an older small hotel with a great restaurant, O'Bryans, on premises. We stay here whenever in Ashland.
