Worst hotel treatement in my life Part 2 - This hotel actually called my boss and demanded I take down my post; which I did to prevent being fired. But I'm gone now so the ACCURATE post is being reinstated. Story about "Broc" & the level of service he feels is appropriate (and the level the manager feels is acceptable of its employees). When I arrived, there’s a parking lot to the right that says “no hotel parking”. I proceed past the front lobby where they have a couple signs marked “loading and unloading only”. I continue to proceed to a gated parking entrance. Expecting to press a button for a parking ticket, I instead find a call button. You cannot get in without a key. I can’t park without a key. I press the call button … again … again … again … again. After the fifth time, a van behind me is blowing his horn. I can't move. I call on the phone and get the front desk. I explain it’s raining hard, my car is getting soaked inside and I need to get in. Right at that time, the man in the van behind me gets out. He’s an employee and lets me in. I make my way into the parking deck. I grab my bag and proceed to the door. This time, I find the door is locked and requires a key to get in. I’m no idiot; I get there’s a solution to this problem. People are inside. I don’t know that solution though. It’s storming outside and I’d hope/expect there to be a way to check in without dodging rain bullets. NOPE. I call again and get “wonderful” Broc again. I tell him I’m in the parking deck but I don’t see how to get inside. Here’s where it gets fun. After that statement above (verbatim), he tells me, “If you can’t figure it out, I can just cancel your reservation and you can go somewhere else.” WHAT?! Not sure who made his day horrible, but he’s decided I’ll be the one where he evens the score. I tell him I can figure it out if he just tells me the way in. Broc standing inside and he asks how he can help. I directly but not rudely say, “Actually at this point, I would rather just have a manager to speak with and get me checked in.” Broc is having a bad day; I don’t want to be a part of it anymore. Broc responds (no kidding … exact words), “I’m not getting anyone for you and you have 6 minutes to get off the property before I call the cops.” I’ve said NOTHING to him at this point to warrant the continued escalation. So I start out the door. I am here at the hotel as a presenter for the company hosting a conference. I just want my room. So I start out the hotel to go across the street to call the conference coordinator I’m working with. Keep in mind it’s still raining and raining hard outside. I’m getting absolutely soaked. Also keep in mind I’ve parked BEHIND the gate already at a place where I was told I would be arrested if I stepped on property. ARRESTED FOR TRYING TO GET A KEY TO A ROOM I ALREADY CHECKED IN FOR. The coordinator gets the issue smoothed over and calls me to come back inside. I’m 100% drenched at this point; as are the clothes I need to present in tomorrow. Soaked! The coordinator tries to shake my hand, and I politely tell him I’m soaked and best he not get too close. Then my new bud Broc wants to shake hands. I say “no”. He then threatens again to kick me out because I don't want to shake hands. I’d just assume hand him my credentials, get checked in and go our separate ways. He then tells the coordinator he's not going to assist because the guy who is dripping wet doesn’t want to shake hands (with him or anyone else). Coordinator had to again apply implied pressure of our bulk contract with the hotel to just give me the keys to the room I’ve already checked into. At that point, Broc says, “I’ll give you the key but you have to promise I’m not getting dragged into my bosses office over this. And for the record, these cameras record video but there’s no audio. It’ll be your word against mine and he’ll believe me over you.” I’m now in my room posting this. What you do with it and what management does with it is not in my control. But know I’m an IGH Gold Elite member and this is how Broc deems I should be treated. There is more but I'm limited on space

The place to stay This is our favorite hotel. The rooms are comfortable (we had a suite). The staff accommodating. The location excellent. And the price reasonable. There is nothing more one could desire. There is a nightclub downstairs that has shows throughout the year( check calendar). And entertainment 5-8pm Thursdays on the patio. The only negative is the fire station is next door. But that can also be looked as being a positive for safety reasons. I love , love, love the place. Oh, and so do my four legged children. It’s very pet friendly.

Well appointed lobby We celebrated our anniversary in Athens and the indigo was great. Love the lobby, lots of seating and a big bar. Really cool outdoor area. The rooms have high ceilings and are very large. Good location.

Great town, great hotel We really liked this hotel and Athens - only 1 night sadly but very comfortable, great location. We could walk a block or 2 into town and loads of good restaurants. My wife did mention the nearby fire station woke her up but I didn’t hear it!
