A parking warning to all We stayed at this hotel a couple of times and so we returned again this year. Check in smooth, rooms ready and we were an hour early. My parents are old and they kindly sorted out a room change with walk in shower - brilliant. We needed to park our car hire in the car park they give you a discounted rate, we explained we will be leaving early on Sunday around 6:30am/7. They said no problem just come to reception for ticket and will be sorted. Got on with the couple of days we were there, rooms were clean, dated but okay. Had noisy neighbours which took its toll so knocked on their door and they did turn their volume down (nothing a hotel can do about that, it was 4am so felt right to say) breakfast was great, everything you can think of. Didnt eat in restaurant but had a few drinks and staff lovely. Would recommend Nu Delhi Indian restaurant- food excellent. Crumlin Gaol was fantastic and whisky tour was good too. So, on our checking out day we went to reception for ticket then walked to the car park to discover it was closed. Not open till 9 or 10am. Went back to the hotel where (in a panic as our flight was at 10am) we asked reception and was told, yes its Sunday. There was nothing we could do, we tried the emergency numbers listed on boards and website but no one answered, as you can imagine we tried more than once. We couldn't even contact the car hire people to see if we left it in car park could it be collected, their offices were not open til 10am as its a Sunday! In the end we had no choice but to get an uber to airport whilst my husband stayed back. I dont want to put all the blame on to the hotel and we do take responsibility in the fact we too should of checked but surely knowing that your recommending this you could let customers know its not 24hr and or on a Sunday say the hours are different to the rest of the week. When we parked the car we were very tired with travelling and stress of elderly parents, I wanted to give feedback to maybe say to people check times as they do change especially when we had the conversations about leaving early on the Sunday and what did we need to do and anything we needed to know. It was an expensive very stressful error....It cost over £300 as needed to pay extra day hire and new flight home which my husband could only get from the other airport so had to take car hire back to Belfast International then get to other George Best one. I however ended up with 2 oldies which was difficult. I wanted to share my experience, and if I can save at least one family of not making this mistake then my job is done...CHECK TIMES especially on a Sunday! The hotel its self is fine and staff were lovely. It just would be good to have warning when asking for all the info on car parking that you can say something or say best to check. It could save another family £££,s
