Cancelled Reservation Having taken my booking the hotel have now cancelled my September booking with no explanation other than the hotel is ‘no longer open to the public’. No attempt to find alternative accommodation - Beware if you have a future booking. I have now lost an evening searching for alternative accommodation without success and will now likely have to sell the tickets I had for an event, so much for planning ahead

Xmas Party Quick check in, which was nice, after a long journey. The room was clean, could not fault it, but the room was really small, probably one of the smallest I have been in, was shocked by the size. However was there for only one night, if it has been longer, it might have been an issue. Lack of lighting in the room was an issue at the night time. Breakfast was good, and staff were really friendly.

Stay away!! I’d encourage you all to keep looking and find a different hotel than the Birmingham Strathallen Hotel. The room’s are not as in the pictures, having almost no way to manoeuvre around as it’s so small and the beds take up all the space. There were no proper heating and our room ridiculously cold, not to mention the bathroom floor feeling like ice. We cut our stay short and left. After that we receive an email claiming to have damaged a wall with black spray paint, which we first thought was a scam, but turns out is an actual claim from the hotel. Trying to communicate with the manager was a horrible experience and trying to reason with him was impossible. Do yourself a favour and stay away, it could be an unpleasant stay that suddenly becomes pricey.

Some good points but shabby in places and rooms tiny My first impression of this hotel was not great - entering from the carpark involves either a very shabby waiting area for the lift of a rather shabby staircase. Reception is smart enough and the staff very friendly and helpful. I then went to my room via the lift. The corridors are a little tired with very dark decor. The room itself was tiny. Just enough room for the bed - (double tucked right agains the wall. I would not have been able to stay in this room had my partner travelled with me. There is no wardrobe - just a small hanging rail above the desk with space for 6 hangers and no more. There are a couple of small drawers also. Lighting in the room was appalling. Ceiling light in the entrance area and two tiny (yes tiny) LED reading lights over the bed. Heating worked well and it was also easy to open the window for ventilation. The hotel is circular so the room gets wider towards the outside wall but that does mean that there is a very narrow part just as you walk past the side of the bathroom and then the desk. On thing that did surprise me in such a small room was the number of electrical power sockets - you will have no issues charging phones, tablets and laptops and still be able to watch TV and boil the kettle. There were 12 power sockets in total and 8 of these had USB ports built in. Breakfast was buffet style full English and reasonable quality. But they operate on an archaic system of being given vouchers at check in. On the first morning I forgot the voucher and had to go back to my room to get it.
