Holiday Inn Express Carlsbad by IHG

Breath of fresh air, literally! Checking in was wonderful, the front desk clerks all of them were super cool, and helpful, my room was clean, comfortable, no smelly carpet or yuckiness. I do not leave 5 star reviews rarely ever. And I'm not picky, just basically want what I pay for, this room was clean, the bed was nice, pillows were the best. I have had 3 horrible experiences on my last stays at other hotels. So this stay was such a breath of fresh air, literally!! I would definitely stay here again. By the way pool was great, hot tub great, and gym open 24 hours, oh and free cookies! What? What more can I ask for??

Carlsbad Holiday Inn Express Stayed for one night after Legoland with kids. We had a 2 queen room. Room lighting was dark and TV was old. Unsure if carpet was clean so made kids wear shoes. AC was strong so that was good. Beds were comfortable. Hope the headboards were clean. There was a large dorm frig with a small freezer and small microwave. Cabinets were old and no door for closet with old hangers. Bathroom had Dove products shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap and lotion in bulk bottles screwed into the walls. Again lighting was dark and old. Shower only and water pressure was low for 3rd floor. Sliding door was dirty on the bottom. Need to press toilet lever a long time to flush. Extra towels were provided at the front desk. Parking was $13 for one night using QR code $12+ $1 fee. Next to Benihana. Breakfast included coffee/tea, cinnamon rolls, breads, muffins, bagels, pork sausage links, turkey sausage Pattie’s, premade scrambled eggs, oatmeal, juices and pancake machine that created lines. Machine makes then one at a time and slow. Probe needs it own section and another machine. Eating area in lobby right next to check in. Having been to other HIE properties this one is middle range. You can tell the owners tried to save in some areas but definitely would not stay again given price.

Horrible experience Horrible experience. Front desk staff was rude. Gave us a dirty room, screen ripped. No where to sit but on bed. Then yelled at us bc we asked about sitting area. I suggest not wasting your time. We had escalations team at holiday address this issue. Still no refund issued. From Carlsbad

No Guest Laundry for now Four laundry machines, all of them broken. Not a good look to list self service laundry as an amenity only to greet travelers with four out of four laundry machines out of order and awaiting repair. Did all four simultaneously fail yesterday? Did they fail in sequence years ago? For now, each is decorated with its own “Out of Order” sign.

A Good Place to Stay First visit to Carlsbad and Holiday Inn Express. Brittany, very friendly, energetic and professional helped us at registration. We came in contact with a couple of other staff members who were also friendly, which we found really refreshing. Room was clean. Beds were comfortable. Very pleasant experience.
