A relatively new hotel with a GREAT front office staff To celebrate our 25th anniversary, my wife selected Le Petit Pali at Ocean Ave in Carmel as our destination for 2 days. We drove from Sacramento and were greeted by Jessica and April (afternoon shift front desk) and the service was simply 5 stars. April poured a few glasses of Rose and both Jessica and April gave us some great suggestions on how to enjoy Carmel. As fate would have it, the day of our actual anniversary (day 2), we received tragic news that my wife's sister's son in Portland, who was a newlywed, lost his wife to an unknown heart virus at the age of 27. We were in total shock and had to leave immediately to travel to Portland to be with family. As of this review, we have not yet heard back from Mgmt as to the potential for a credit for day 2, but in any regard, the service from the front desk and the quality of the room were excellent. We recommend this hotel for those who enjoy a taste of France with modern conveniences. Enjoy !!

Charming coastal boutique This place is a coastal grandmother’s dream. Incredible location at the top of downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea. While this is essentially an upscale motel, the vibes are immaculate—the decor is stunning and carefully crafted, with luxury touches like T3 hair tools, Diptyque toiletries, a fully stocked mini-bar, nightly cookie delivery, daily happy hours and champagne breakfasts with locally sourced pastries. Plus, a welcome glass of sparkling rosé is always a nice touch. When we booked a room with a fireplace in July, we didn’t expect to need it but surprisingly Carmel-by-the-Sea is pretty chilly, so we did enjoy it for a bit one night. The only downside is that the rooms do not have AC, so our room tended to get a bit stuffy each day. The rooms are also definitely on the smaller side, so don’t expect a lot of extra room for luggage, etc. Additionally, the bathroom design was a bit wonky and the shower door is not fully seal, which led to water pooling on the bathroom floor each time we showered. For the price point you’re paying to stay here, anything less than extraordinary is disappointing at best. Unfortunately during our stay, I had an unexpected hospital visit and so we didn’t get to enjoy the room or town as much as we had hoped. However, the staff at Le Petit Pali were SO accommodating and were willing to bring breakfast to our room so we didn’t miss out. That hospitality was truly appreciated! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend this quaint little spot to anyone visiting the area.

Don't be charmed or made the fool. My wife and I stayed here in April over a Saturday and Sunday night. Room charges, occupancy tax, other taxes, and Guest Amenity fees totaled $1318.90 (that's $659.45 per night). For that amount you might expect the height of luxury. You would be wrong. The walls are so thin it's possible to hear everything the room next door is doing. The windows are single pane so all street noise and cold/heat pass right into the room. We suffered two nights of the worst sleep ever in a hotel because it sits at the intersection of the very well traveled Ocean Ave. and Junipero St. (not at 8th and Junipero where the sister hotel is located) and we had front row seats to the teens racing their cars and the garbage trucks making their early morning rounds. This hotel is essentially an old converted Comfort Inn that didn't have any significant changes done to it other than fresh paint and new interiors. While guests are provided with a welcome glass of bubbly, fresh baked, ready-made, cookies every night, a complimentary bottle of water in the room, and continental breakfast, there is also a daily $40 Guest Amenity Fee. And do not be fooled by the Happy Hour. Two drinks averaged us $28 each. On the plus side, the location is very convenient for walking to town and the beach. And the decor is charming.

The Guy at Reception is RUDE This isn't really a review of the hotel or the rooms. This is review of us pulling into this hotel on our trip to Carmel because we were looking for the hotel we booked (The Comfort Inn), and we weren't sure if we had the right place. The guy in reception could not have been more RUDE, unhelpful and with such an attitude! Our mistake was apparently bothering him because we were in the wrong place. At no time were we rude or impolite to him. All I can think of is would anyone want to stay at a place that had this jerk at reception? (The date was 5/15/24, midafternoon). He did point us to our hotel, which was located right behind this hotel. When we asked if he would tell us where the office was for that hotel, his answer was "No". Never stay at a hotel that would hire anyone like this to represent them at reception.

The Best Boutique Hotel My wife and I are writing this email to share the wonderful experience that we had at Le Petit Pali at Ocean Avenue! When we arrived at the beautiful boutique hotel at Carmel, California we were met by one of the most professional concierge named Desi! As soon as I walked in, Desi stood up, welcomed me and immediately made me felt at home! What more could you ask for on a honeymoon trip (we are from Atlanta, Georgia). At 9pm (In the evening hours) on October 14th, Desi took the time to explain thoroughly about the hotel amenities, as well as tidbits about the local neighborhood (Carmel). Throughout our week stay (October 14th - October 20th), whenever Desi would see us, she would always stop to have an intentional conversation with us! It’s people like Desi that make people want comeback and visit Carmel! Also, the aesthetic and layout of the entire hotel was spectacular! Please share this Desi! Looking forward to an experience in the town of Carmel again in 2025!
