Not as Advertised My stay here was, how shall, I put it, disappointing! We ate in the over priced restaurant on the first night. The food, whilst well presented, mas a small portion and cold. Hannah (?) the manager on duty really could not care less. Breakfast was slow and eggs like rubber. Had to wait ages for coffee as had "jumped the queue" and not waited to be seated. If I had waited, I'd probably still be stood there. Thought we'd give the bar food a go. Pizza's didn't have the correct toppings and were served in a pizza box. At the table? The room, whilst clean, had no plugs next to the bed to charge 'phone. There were patches on the walls where marks had been painted over and the sofa would not look out of place in a charity shop! The grounds were lovely, apart from the rodent traps visible outside the conservatory. The barman was a very helpful chap, but completely overwhelmed, with no support from colleagues who could be seen gossiping in the next room. Checkout - no check on the stay or even a thank you. Faded grandeur, poor service, awful food. Enough said

Terrible customer service The spa was nice and the massage ok but she put towels under my head for the leg massage that gave me a stiff neck I had pain in my neck all night . The main issue I have with this hotel is the hotel staff and their lack of care when I lost a ring off my finger in the room. I told them where I’d lost it and that it was an expensive ring. They weren’t proactive didn’t look for it, they let new guests into the room knowing an expensive ring was in there and when I rang asking for updates or whether they had looked I was given confusing conflicting information and told they would ring me back after they had more information. They failed to ring me back even despite me ringing up 3 more times about my rings whereabouts, they finally put me through to housekeeping and I got told the new guests were in the room with the do not disturb sign so they couldn’t check til they left.. I found this very rude considering ab experience ring was inside that room and the guests could have pocketed it. Housekeeping told me they’d search the room and pull the bed out and get back to me after the guests have left and they still haven’t over a week later noone has got back to me. I wouldn’t stay again they have no care over their customers at all. Very disappointed

Excellent child friendly hotel in lovely grounds We had an excellent one night midweek stay prior to visiting Chester Zoo. The rural location was perfect being a few minutes drive from the Zoo. The hotel has beautiful grounds with well kept gardens and there is a lovely terrace for alfresco dining. The interior is beautiful and very comfortable. Lovely ambience. The spacious bedroom was superb with a high level of comfort and hardly any noise thus excellent sleep quality. Nice bathroom with over bath shower and good quality toiletries. The lunch and breakfast were both high quality with a good choice and service. The swimming pool was a good size and the changing rooms were the best we have seen in a while. We did not use the Spa facilities. The hotel is child friendly and the Chester Zoo offer is amazing value. The staff were very good especially the restaurant team. The hotel has two floors with a lift to the first floor and the access for people with mobility problems is excellent. The spa is in a separate building. Great value for this quality. Highly recommended.

Disappointed Visited here to get the rasul mud treatment, I was told the only available slot for the day was a 6pm which I accepted. We used the spa and at 6 we went for our mud treatment. We were given our instructions by the receptionist. Cover ourselves with the the mud, press the button and wait 20mins for the steam to activate. We waited 30mins and no steam. After calling for the attendant. She apologised informed us that the steamer is on a timer and shuts off at 6pm and all the staff knew it. So we we basically felt fobbed off and insulted as the staffer who guided us initially told us otherwise had gone home before we had we sat for over 30mins for absolutely nothing. After showering and then talking to a manager we were given a voucher and an apology. We left with that but still seething at the face we wasted our time in the first place.
