Thursday, December 8th visit. My wife and I arrived around 4pm. We were greeted right away, and given a king bed room on the first floor, facing the parking lot. Check in and check out went great. Both desk clerks that we visited with were very nice and friendly. And the other couple of employees we ran into were equally as nice. Our room was clean, and smelled good. It’s not a huge room, but it worked for us. Bathroom and shower worked great. The shower was actually quite powerful. There is a microwave and refrigerator. Tv worked great, with plenty of channels to choose from. I did not hear much noise from surrounding rooms, or the hallway. The parking lot is large, and is well lit at night. The hotel is a stones throw away from one of the entrances to the Iowa State fairgrounds. E Grand avenue heads back towards downtown. It is a straight away easy way to head to downtown and back. You drive right by the State Capitol building. The breakfast serving area is tiny, but it works. They did have biscuits and gravy available. We had a very nice visit, and the price was quite decent. We would stay again.

Horrid. This is the dirtiest hotel that I’ve ever stayed in. When we arrived, we found pubic hair in the sheets. The toilet was clogged and there was gunk on the wall. Unfortunately, a tornado warning was issued for Des Moines and Zach Bryan concert goers has snatched up all of the non-atrocious hotel space. My wife and I were stuck. We were supposed to stay here two nights, but we opted out of our second night and drove to another hotel (4/5 hours away).

Mold Avoid The bathroom has black mold growing on the ceiling. The upkeep of the motel is poor. I recommend that you go elsewhere. Also, there were small bloodstained on the corner of the mattress, like they had bed bugs in the past. This can happen in any motel and they obviously had fumigated as I did not appear to have them but the mattress should have been in a bedbug proof covering and it wasn't.

Clean rooms, helpful staff, reasonable rates Stayed here for a cat show in the Iowa State Fairgrounds. The staff were very helpful. Room clean at check in. Felt safe at all times. They followed my requests, and were great to deal with. I originally stayed there because it is close to my event, but I'll be staying there again.

This Econo Lodge is great! This Econo Lodge is great! Wife was late getting home from another trip. We left our town(S.E.Ks.) around 3:45 pm., Tuesday, Sept. 28,2021. Heading to Wauconda, ILL. Drove to Des Moines, Ia, arriving there about 8:30 pm. Didn't know if we could just show up, and get a room. Jim, at the front desk was very helpful. Got us an overnight stay for under $100. We also got to meet Chandra. Reading reviews on their website, she is highly praised. Jim told us he is 65, and rides a bike a lot. Des Moines has has a large biking population. The room was very clean, and had everything we needed. Also had a good continental breakfast. This is a great place to stay, and employees are very helpful. We'll stop again sometime.
