West Coast 2023 We stayed at this lodging on our return trip from the west coast. The hotel was in a good location off the freeway. The hotel for a Holiday Inn was kind of disappointing and seemed dated. We had a King Studio Suite and the couch was uncomfortable and dusty on the back, the room had very limited outlets, the shower head was very pulsating and hard on the skin and had Styrofoam plates instead of paper or cardboard that would be recycled. It was a good location, but would probably look to stay somewhere else if passing through this area.

Below Average A little different from other holiday inn expresses we have stayed in. The front desk lady wasn’t as inviting. We asked for a top floor and she instantly said they didn’t have any. My wife explained that we needed a top floor room for personal reasons. She all of a sudden had a room. She seemed put out to have to do her job. I think we arrived right at her break. Sorry about that. The room was good. Opened the refrigerator and it smelled like something had died in it. The sofa in the suite really needs to be thrown out. Not only old but smelled. The room was quiet. I didn’t like that they rigged the ac. They removed the switch to just run the fan. So when it reached the temp it totally shut off. Breakfast was ok. Was not set up completely when we arrived at 7. Kept bring stuff out. Sorry. This location is not up to par with the other holiday inn expresses.

Very bad. poor service. Rooms heater/AC unit was broken and would not shut off - ran all night on AC and cooled the room down to 60 degrees. Thermostat in room didn't work so couldn't adjust. The fan in the AC unit squeeled all night and sounded like a couple cats were fighting. Called the desk requesting a new room and was told they would be right up to investigate. Never showed.

Extremely Rude. Worn out Very regular patron of holiday inn express. This by far the most worn out property ever. No upgrades. Parking lot was empty. Extremely rude desk. Angry I asked for a upgrade. Very belligerent when asked about pet free rooms. He needs to find a new line of work. Shabbily dressed. Never again for devils lake. Many other new hotels in town.

An okay hotel... nothing special but acceptable for a night. My spouse and I were on a road trip around North Dakota in August 2023 and spent a Saturday night at this Holiday Inn Express in Devils Lake. Overall, the hotel was okay... nothing too special. It was a bit of an older property but served its purpose for our night's stay. Our check-in process went okay, and our room (#225) was clean and comfortable (although a bit plain with little in the way of decorations). We had no problems during our stay. One thing we appreciated was being able to use the hot tub in the indoor pool area. That was nice. But one downside was that I sort of wanted to use the business center computer, but the key card did not work to get into that room. It wasn't a huge deal, and so I didn't mention anything about it to the front desk... but it would have been nice to know what was going on there. (Was the computer not working? Was it just a fluke with my key card?) Breakfast at the hotel didn't look all that exciting (or super appetizing) in the morning, so we just ate breakfast elsewhere. Not a big deal. We got a decent night's sleep at this hotel, which was important. If I ever find myself needing a place to stay in Devils Lake, I'd consider staying here again... but overall it's just an average hotel. (If I'd had the ability to give it a rating of 3.5 stars, I probably would have done that.)
