A Fun, Comfortable Family Getaway at Great Wolf Lodge Fitchburg We had such a wonderful stay at Great Wolf Lodge in Fitchburg, MA! It was the perfect mix of kid fun and parent relaxation — something that’s not easy to find.
Our room was spacious, spotless, and filled with playful touches that made it feel special. The kids were finally old enough to explore a little bit on their own, which gave us a chance to relax without worrying. We really appreciated the quiet hours at night — no little feet running up and down the halls early in the morning or late at night!
The food was fantastic, and having a bar by the pool was a great perk for parents. The water park was clean and well-maintained, and I was so impressed with how attentive and professional the lifeguards were. There’s honestly almost too much to do — from the water slides to the games to the adorable nightly story time with the lodge characters.
If you have older kids, I highly recommend checking out MagiQuest, the live-action adventure game that runs throughout the lodge. It’s such a fun, magical experience and gives kids a sense of independence while still keeping them safely entertained.
A few tips:
Check the daily activity schedule when you arrive so you don’t miss story time or other events.
Start your water park day early to beat the crowds.
Plan a little downtime in your room — you’ll need it!
Bring snacks if your kids are picky, even though the on-site food was excellent.
Overall, this was one of those family trips that checked every box — fun, clean, comfortable, and full of happy memories. We left with tired, smiling kids and a plan to come back again soon. Check their site for their packages and passes that allow families to further enhance their stay while also saving money. It is a great one-stop shop for a weekend getaway!

Unsafe and Poorly Handled Fire Alarm I recently stayed at Great Wolf Lodge on November 9, and I feel compelled to share how poorly the hotel handled a serious safety situation. Around 5 a.m., a fire alarm went off — not a drill, but a real alarm triggered by a smoke detector in the main tower.
What followed was complete disorganization and chaos. There were no clear instructions from staff, no designated meeting point outside, and no one taking charge to ensure guests were safe or accounted for. People were standing outside in confusion, unsure if it was real or a false alarm. To make matters worse, guests were allowed to reenter the building while the alarm was still sounding.
As a teacher who conducts monthly fire drills, I know exactly what effective safety procedures should look like — and this was the opposite. It was obvious that staff lacked training and that management was unprepared to handle an actual emergency.
When I reached out to management afterward, I received a lengthy email explaining that the alarm was genuine and that the fire department had responded. However, the response only confirmed my concern: the manager admitted that communication was limited and even suggested that I might not have received their follow-up message because I had opted out of texts. That excuse doesn’t hold up — I received every single promotional text during my stay (morning coffee deals, evening pizza specials, etc.), yet somehow, not the one text that actually mattered — the one about a potential fire.
This isn’t a simple oversight; it’s a major safety and communication failure. It shows a lack of training, leadership, and basic crisis management. I genuinely hope Great Wolf Lodge reviews their emergency procedures, retrains their staff, and rethinks their communication priorities before something worse happens.
This incident shows major gaps in staff preparedness and management oversight. Families deserve better safety standards and clearer communication in emergencies. Until I see that improvement, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

19 Per day parking! I didn't go because they charge 19 per day for parking. What a rip off! I hate the extra things that they try to get you for. Please!

Over rated and overpriced What has happened? We came 2 years ago and it was great. Checked in yesterday to find that they now charge $19 a day for parking in the middle of nowhere with a huge lot that will never fill up. Also have an upgraded room with no microwave. $300 a night and you have to go to the vending area to use a microwave that is small and dirty. How unhygienic. These upgraded rooms are not sound proof at all. It sounded like a herd of buffalo were in the halls all night and doors slamming at all hours. Sure I like my room to be pretty but being able to sleep is really what the goal should be.
The staff were friendly and activities helped but we will not be returning.

“Dirty Room, No Cleaning, and Terrible Service experience we have ever had. From the very first day, the moment we entered the room, the floor was sticky and impossible to walk on, and the room had a terrible smell. We had to ask several times for someone to come clean the floor just so we could move around, and we sprayed a lot of air freshener ourselves to try to cover the awful odor that filled the room.
For four days we begged for our room to be cleaned. The trash cans were overflowing, with no place left to throw garbage. The room became filthy because of the kids, and everything started to smell. We repeatedly asked, several times a day, for someone to empty the bins, cleanthe room, and so on — but nothing happened.
There isn’t even a toilet brush in the room, so we had to go out and buy one ourselves just to be able to clean the bathroom after the kids used it. At this point, we don’t even mind reusing old towels, but there’s literally nowhere in the room to hang them when they’re wet.
It is simply impossible to stay in the room anymore. We’ve been forced to buy our own cleaning supplies, carry the trash bags through the hotel and empty them ourselves, and essentially act as the housekeeping staff — constantly dealing with it throughout the day because the hotel doesn’t provide the service.
