Holiday Inn Grand Rapids - South by IHG

Could be better drove over a hour for this hotel! The room was great! Pool was absolutely freezing even for kids! We still swam but wasn’t the best. Hot tub jets didn’t work! My toddlers had fun ages 2&4 but much older they wouldn’t have in my opinion! The breakfast actually wasn’t bad though for a hotel lots of options the main thing that I was disappointed with besides the pool being cold was that I was planning on going swimming with my kids the next morning and they were closed for there scheduled cleaning day which is a bummer the website said nothing about that!  Honestly if that didn’t happen I would’ve had a way better stay. So the night before I would’ve went swimming way longer if I knew that information or if the lady said something! She even said we can go swimming tomorrow said nothing about that! Only good thing was the room! I wish I could even get a partial refund for that because it really was cold water & the pool was closed.

Wonderful stay Our family of 12 had 5 rooms for 5 nights. The rooms were quiet, clean and comfortable. The unique, large pool area was also clean and was enjoyed by all. Breakfast was adequate. The people at the desk were cheerful and helpful. We all agreed that this was a great place to stay and we will be back.

I stayed here for a total of 10 nights on a business trip and will never stay here again. The hotel was not clean, they made so many errors with my reservation I cannot even list them all here, and while the staff was pleasant, they were very incompetent. A few examples - when I checked in for my first 5 night stay I asked about whether breakfast was included in my rate. I was told no. So I did not eat breakfast there and did not figure it out until I was checking out and looked at my original reservation - sure enough, I had paid for breakfast. I talked to the manager and she gave me some points but it was very disappointing. I also was only checked in for one night initially and so when I came back the next day, I was locked out of my room. During my second 5 night stay the room had a leaky toilet and there was standing water on the ground and it took them 3 days to fix it. Also that entire room smelled musty/moldy probably because of the water leak. Other issues - a repair man walked right into my room when I was in there working with hardly even knocking first, really startled me, also he spoke very little English so I wasn't even sure why he was there. Another issue - my room did not get serviced about half the days that I was there, which I brought up to them several times, and it still kept happening. There are other things but those are some of the more memorable concerns. Obviously I will not stay here again even though it is very convenient for a work site of mine and the price is good - the quality concerns and service are just too much to deal with. This is far, far below the experience that I have had at other Holiday Inn Express locations.

Great spot and great service Great spot and would come again!!! These guys are amazing and would highly recommend coming here to stay if you are in Grand Rapids. Staff was super friendly and super kind!!!!!! Only great things to say and will definitely be coming back next time we come through this part of town!

Poorly managed, rude, and unmaintained. Poorly managed hotel with rude customer service and dated and unmaintained rooms and amenities. The hotel staff are confused and then rude when questioned. We booked two rooms, one of the rooms had a toilet that wouldn’t flush. We asked the front desk for a new room or a refund and they were resistant to either. They ultimately moved us to another room but we had to really push for a working toilet. The splash pad was fun for the kids but was dirty, rundown, and partially closed. Most of the wear and tear of a hotel I can overlook if the facilities are clean and the service is friendly. However, the rude service provided to my family and I was unacceptable. I highly recommend going to a different splash pad or hotel.
