Great Staff and Location for the Price with Free Parking Sometimes being late pays off...the room block I was supposed to have gotten at other hotels were all sold out at the "reduced" rate and were insanely expensive. I know we wanted to still be near everyone so the location and price of the Holiday Inn checked all the boxes, so I took a chance and honestly, didn't expect much...it was my own fault. It was truly a great mistake! From free breakfast, free parking, and literally being in a quiet hotel, still in walking distance of ALL the restaurants, shops, and those other hotels I didn't stay at (where everyone else complained about their stays for one reason or another and had to pay insane fees for valet or parking), I was living it up. Now, don't expect top of the line luxuries, but if you can get past that...it is so worth it. The other thing is the staff is always smiling and trying. They were so sweet and friendly. They went out of there way to make our stay welcoming. A special shout out to Jisele, who in the evening, when I asked about the fresh-baked, yummy cookies (yes, they do that) and if that was only a morning/afternoon thing, she asked what kind I liked for she said it makes it smell good and she knew others would appreciate them too. In less than 30 minutes, Jisele had baked up hot, gooey chocolate chip cookies and sent us to bed happy indeed.... Again, a wonderful mistake staying here...I recommend it before needing to break the bank if you are looking for a place to rest your head and explore!

Unexpected incidental charges Overall a great experience, the staff are lovely and very helpful, with the exception of the manager. I had 3 different amounts of incidental charges taken from my credit card on 3 consecutive days, totalling over $250. I couldn’t find out why and am still waiting for them to be returned even though I was told that the money would be returned after 5-10 working days. I’ve tried emailing Drake, the hotel manager but haven’t received a reply. Watch the charges on your card people or your spending money could be seriously depleted without you realising.

Poor customer service and no working toilet The toilet would not flush in our room, so we reported it to the front desk who said they’d contact maintenance. Five ours later, still no repairs. Hotel was full so we couldn’t move and had to use the bathroom in the lobby overnight. Even calling corporate, no one resolved this matter. When I asked to speak to the manager, was first told he was “coming right up” and then told he was on a business call. I was told I could “keep calling back” to catch the manager. Nope. I don’t work for IHG. I’m just someone they took advantage of to pay for substandard accommodations and horrible customer service from the hotel and from IHG

Only because of checkin Didn't start out well at all. The receptionist was rude, credit card machine didn't work (2 of them), and she just didn't want to do her job. There was a total of 4 sitting in chairs have fun talking and lacking job responsibilities. Apparently, we were interrupting the employees. Left the building to retrieve our belongings but were locked out because the receptionist didn't program our cards. That were the only issues. The rest of the stay was pleasant. Room was clean. Other guests polite. One bad employee didn't ruin the stay.

A Little Shabby…but Free Parking Downtown The best thing about this hotel was the free parking - which is so rare in downtown hotels. It is located on the edge of downtown, but is walkable to restaurants, stores, parks and museums. The staff was also very friendly. But take note: This is an older hotel that was probably updated a little in recent years, but is still a bit shabby. There is no real lobby. Our room was only made up on random days and even then it wasn’t really cleaned. I think the bed was made and that’s about it. On our last full day that wasn’t even done. Sometimes the wastebaskets were emptied, sometimes not. By our last couple of days, they were overflowing. It seemed less expensive than the other hotels in the area. The paragraph above describes why that is probably so.
