That Smell... Well, I had an appointment and thought it would be nice to go do something different and take a short travel. The Positives are very nice and calm manager. I don't know how they tolerate the madness. But amid the chaos, they don't even flinch or raise an eyebrow. I picked the Quality Inn as opposed to the 'attached' Econo Lodge, for any seasoned traveler, you already know the 'whys' to this. However, in case you have forgotten or are unable to travel often, I shall try to explain. Econo's, back in the day, had a reputation, comparable to places like, Red Roof Inns, Ramada (these are the worst ever!) or a budget 'pay-by-the-hour' types. Seedy, brothel, shady types, usually with stains and broken equipment or beds. So, I cleverly thought, Quality will be the best option, of the two. I'm not sure where I was, exactly. It was far back into a wing in quite possibly the next section. All I know is that smell hit like a mac truck and I actually paused breathing. Oh my goodness. If you kept the door closed for about an hour, it dissipates, inside the room. I carry spray everywhere so that helped. So much I can say. No eggs for breakfast. Rooms are old BUT they were clean. Beds lumpy but clean linen and towels. A/C old-fashioned, not digital nor wall thermostat. The staff! Not the manager but The Staff ... meaning the help/maids and the old couple, were so loud! The housekeepers don't knock! They just enter! Ouch. Headache upon leaving. I still don't know what the smell was. It's like stale cigarettes or an ashtray and I am pretty sure a little something something was going down at the far end rooms. I gave 2 stars because of the manager. God bless them. Also because of room and linen cleanliness and you could walk to the Dairy Queen, in the adjacent parking lot... hey it was almost 90F, so yeah. It would be perfect for a movie film set. The Shining ring any bells?

The worst hotel I’ve stayed at. I stayed here for a week due to a business trip and when I say it was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at I mean it. I quite literally debated the need for a conceal carry license after this. First of all the room was dirty, the shower was gross, the toiletries weren’t new and the toilet and toilet paper were used. There was gunk on the table tops and the remote. To make all this worse, I uncovered the bed only to find super stained sheets, not just one spot, the whole thing. I called the hotel for help and they changed out my sheets for another set which was also dirty!!! I would’ve checked out the first night but ended up getting super sick with a fever and couldn’t get out of bed for a day and then had to stay a few extra until I could drive. But this was just inside. Outside is super sketchy and there were screams up and down hallways all hours of the night, banging on doors, and what sounded like fighting. Going outside to my car I was approached by a woman saying she needed money while at the same time a guy came up behind me trying to take my purse. I called the hotel but they said they weren’t there. There was also what looked like prostitutes going up and down the back street with other people. There’s also a homeless camp on the other side of the tree in the back. It is terrible, it was not clean or safe and I don’t know how they have ever turned up a decent review.

Oddly sketchy feeling This place seems sketchy when you pull up, but I think Hagerstown is more sketchy than I expected. The front desk was very helpful and efficient. Room seemed clean although I swear I could see the outline of someone's suitcase on the bedspread. The whole place would benefit from a deep cleaning and some upgrades. People were clearly smoking as you could smell it walking through the halls. The scariest thing was the room door with a CAUTION-CONDEMNED sign on it that you walk past as it's one of the first rooms. You can make up stories in your head about what occurred there... It was also very quiet since it's not right on the interstate as many of these hotels are. It was very affordable, but I probably would not stay here again. Too many ???'s to make me feel good about it.

Good value and nice stay once past the initial impression Stayed at this hotel for one night with a friend as we were passing through town on motorcycles for the MABDR. The first impression of the hotel was that it was a little seedy - the front part of the building had broken glass, some trash in the parking lot, random people walking around the lot, hallways were dark and needed some paint, etc. But once past this the hotel was good value for the money. Our rooms were freshly renovated and quite clean with new LVT replacing the old carpet in many hotels like this. It was reasonably quiet after 10PM, and everything like faucets and switches worked properly. Breakfast was good and the staff was friendly. Overall it turned out to be a nice stay and good value once we got past the initial impression.
